New 2,300 sq. ft. single family infill residence

The Story

This project resulted from the client’s desire to separate and develop a downtown 50′x100′ property into two separate pieces of land. The result was Bent and B-Line houses. For us this project created the unique opportunity to design two houses that would become a part of the urban fabric while also being immediate neighbours.

The Bent and B-Line residences are homes that share some characteristics but also have their own unique charm and elements to ensure privacy. Each residence is clad in locally harvested cedar have extruded aluminum reveals at the corners and use reclaimed metal panels that were gathered from other demolition sites. The homes each have interior gardens that look out onto the shared courtyard. In Bent house, a sunken, three-sided fireplace extends the feeling of comfort and warmth to the surrounding family area. With Bent place we played with private / public outdoor spaces through the use of patios / seating areas on the lower front and back yards and more private green roof top patio that offers a panoramic view of the city.
