The Story
Infill housing has existed as long as we have lived in cities, slowly integrating itself into the urban fabric; filling in the gaps can breathe life and encourage a more social community, promote a more compact lifestyle, decrease the demands on city infrastructure and motorized transport and inject life into a neighborhood. This modern infill project focuses on innovative ways to reduce cost while instilling useful features and amenities. The overarching strategy was to re-think the main factors in construction cost: labour, building size/square footage, and materials to maximize the return on the construction dolor. This modern Ottawa home also deals with the recent live / work trends buy allowing for a functional at home office and not compromising the privacy of the residence. Located on a 35’x100’ lot this modern infill located in the heart of Wellington West Village (Ottawa) provides a roof top patio / green roof, interior bamboo garden, and large movable walls / partitions promote flexible spaces.
